Radio uses

Lake Mountain houses radio towers for several radio stations serving the general area. KHTB 94.9 FM, a rock station, broadcasts from Lake Mountain.[1] KKLV, formerly Country legends 107.5 and KKAT-FM, now K-LOVE also has a transmitter on the mountain.[2] KJMY, a hot adult contemporary format radio station on 99.5 FM formerly had a translator known as K256AE, which is on 99.1 MHz from a tower on the mountain. The translator is now used as a rebroadcast of KNRS's HD-2 stream through a loophole in FCC rules. It is known as "Classic Country 99.1." KVFX had a translator known as K284AI-FM. K284AI was on located 104.7 MHz. In order to make way for KYLZ, the station signed off the air.[3][4] Two Religious radio translators also call the mountain home. The first, K213CP (90.5 FM), retransmits programming from KLOV, and is licensed to Pleasant Grove, Utah. The second, K217CL (91.3 FM), carries programming from KYCC, and is licensed to Provo.

Amateur radio

Multiple repeaters for amateur radio exist on Lake Mountain. The most well known repeater is operated by the Utah Amateur Radio Club (UARC), first being coordinated in 1978.[5] Numerous other stations share tower space with the repeaters above, all operating on different frequencies.[6] A partial list is included below.

Television stations

Numerous high and low power television stations call Lake Mountain their home. KUPX's, former analog broadcast on channel 16, which is owned by Paxson Salt Lake City License Inc carried programming from the Ion Television network from a tower on the mountain. Its tower was located on the northern flank of the mountain (pictured right). KUPX carries its digital television signal on channel 29 from Farnsworth Peak. KUTH, Salt Lake City's Univision affiliate, broadcasts its digital broadcast from Lake Mountain on channel 32. K43JV, a lower power television translator, carries programming from 3ABN. It broadcasts on channel 43.[9] K49GD, channel 49, is a translator for KTMW and carries a variety of programming. K49GD is licensed to Spanish Fork, Utah.[10] KUTH recently filed an application with the FCC to move its transmitter to Farnsworth Peak which would leave only lower powered television stations transmitting from the mountain. This move will allow KUTH to better serve the Wasatch Front because of Farnsworth Peak's higher terrain.[11]
